The logo is meant to be a blank canvas. The bold font can be used as a “frame” two ways: to showcase line art of their own characters or to be drawn on in a moment of inspiration.
Part of their identity are the notebooks: they can be used to develop ideas and storyboards while allowing the artist to fill the logo, making it distinctive enough from notebooks where other concepts are being worked on. They have the added bonus of being easy to hand out to clients as promotional materials too.
Cyan was the preferred ink for 1-color printing to shave cost on marketing materials and other promotional items.
